After fourteen years of primary teaching
in Glasgow, Winnipeg and London, Sheila’s experience included
curriculum and language co-ordination, mentoring, and teaching
children with special needs.
Two further years as an Advisory Teacher for the City of Westminster
was followed by a Managing Editor’s role for a major open
learning project for Certified Accountants. This led
to co-ordination roles with publishing houses Macmillan and Addison
Wesley Longman.
Sheila’s open learning and editorial clients have included
Pearson Education, Sense (The Deafblind Rubella Association) and
Bristol-based Strategy PR – now Strategy Harrison Cowley.
Sheila also trained as a Speed Text Operator for RNID and was
a visiting lecturer at the University of West of England’s
Social Work degree.

Most recently Sheila has been an online
tutor on an Edexcel accredited BTEC Certificate of Management
Studies course (NVQ Level 4); delivered training in Child Protection
to primary teachers and a course in Stakeholder Communications,
and worked as a Year 1 Advisor in numeracy.
Sheila is a Deputy Chair of Governors at Claremont Special
School, Bristol.
Sheila has an Education Diploma in Primary Teaching from Jordanhill
College and a BA from the Open University.
